The Causes and Treatment of Intestinal Candida

Intestinal Candida yeast infection is very common and is caused by a fungal organism present in everyone’s gastrointestinal tract. It doesn’t matter their age or how healthy they are. A very healthy person has this organism. Both men and women have it. This infection is usually treated with yeast infection medications.

Many factors such as described below can cause this fungal organism or yeast to multiply and turn into a more serious infection. If this yeast infection is not treated promptly, it can become very severe.

Common causes of an intestinal Candida yeast infection

Stress – Stress causes the release of certain hormones called Cortisol. Cortisol lowers the immune system and raises blood sugar. This spike in blood sugar feeds the yeast cells allowing them to grow quickly. The lowered immune system leaves the body defenseless to this yeast and allows it to multiply causing Candida.

Lowered Immune System – A weak immune system can no longer fight off the multiplying yeast cells resulting in a serious infection. A lowered immune system is usually due to illness, diabetes, stress, improper diet and the use of antibiotics.

Antibiotics – Antibiotics are good for getting rid of bad bacteria, however, they also destroy good bacteria which helps to keep Candida at bay. The stronger the dose of antibiotics the more chances it has to lead to an imbalance in bad bacteria, yeasts and parasites overgrowth causing intestinal Candida.

Natural treatments for your Candida

Candida and yeast infection medications are usually prescribed to treat this infection, however there are more natural ways to fight off this ugly fungus.

1) The use of Garlic as either a supplement or rubbing it on the infected area.

2) Eat yogurt. This acts like as an immunization by adding the bacteria into your system. You can also add yogurt right to the infected area.

3) The use of herbal anti-fungals and probiotics. These contain beneficial bacteria which treats Candida.

4) Strict Candida diet involving the elimination of processed sugars, white starches and foods containing yeast while adding more foods enriched with Omega-3 oils.

5) Increase your fiber intake. Fiber supplements can be taken with water and consumed twice daily for optimal benefits.

6) The use of Probiotics help boost the immune system, form vitamins and nutrients in the body and offer beneficial bacteria that works to kill the yeast causing the infection.

Your doctor might prescribe you some yeast infection medications, but you can try these more natural methods first. It might not cure the Candida right away, however you can usually treat the symptoms within a couple weeks by staying consistent. Either way, spotting and staying on top of Candida while doing exactly as your doctor prescribes is the best approach when fighting off intestinal Candida.
